Would you know about Chatter User Licenses in Salesforce?
Salesforce Chatter is a real-time social network program that enables employees to communicate, share information, and collaborate. To access its features, users must be assigned appropriate Chatter User Licenses in Salesforce, which allow them to collaborate securely at work by establishing networks, sharing data, and providing status updates.
Chatter allows you to connect with individuals, information, and groups on your company’s private and secure internal network.
All normal Salesforce licenses provide free Chatter access to everyone in your organization. Salesforce also provides Chatter-specific licenses, including Chatter External, Chatter Free, and Chatter Only (also known as Chatter Plus). The Chatter Only license can only be purchased by existing Chatter Plus users.
Chatter External
This license is for users who are not part of your company’s email domain. These external users, often known as customers, can be invited to Chatter groups that accept customers. Customers can only view information and engage with other users in groups to which they have been invited. They are denied gain access to the Chatter objects or info.
Chatter Free
The Chatter Free license is for those who do not have Salesforce licenses yet require access to Chatter. These users can access standard Chatter items such as files, groups, and individual profiles, but they cannot access Salesforce objects or data due to security concerns.
Salesforce administrators can convert a Chatter Free license to a standard or Lightning Platform Starter license at any time. You cannot convert a standard Salesforce, Lightning Platform Starter, or Chatter Only license to a Chatter Free license.
Chatter Only
The Chatter Only license is also called the Chatter Plus license. It is only available to existing Chatter Plus users. The Chatter Plus license is for users who do not have Salesforce licenses but require access to Chatter and a few other Salesforce objects. Chatter Plus members can become Chatter moderators and have access to the standard Chatter people, profiles, groups, and file pages.
If you are an existing Chatter Plus customer, you can purchase additional Chatter Plus licenses.
